3 Things You're Doing Wrong That Are Making Your Skin Dry

By 20:38

Ever looked over at your friends' perfectly moisturized, glowing legs and wondered why your skin doesn't look so glamorous?

Here are 3 things you might be doing wrong, but don't worry, we have solutions!

1. You don't exfoliate.

Out with the old, in with the new! Exfoliating removes dead skin and encourages new skin to regenerate. If you aren't exfoliating around once per week, your skin can dry out - causing that nasty scaly appearance. Not cool.

An absolute miracle to exfoliate with is sea salt scrub. It isn't too hard to find in a beauty store or even a pharmacy. The ones from the dead sea are generally the best.

Exfoliating gloves work well too, just make sure you don't scrub too hard! This can leave little grazes all over your skin.

2. You aren't shaving right.

Make sure you NEVER dry-shave. This will wreak havoc on your freshly exfoliated skin! Always use either a shaving cream or gel, or if you don't have these in your shower - at the very least use some shower gel. Soap won't really do, it dries out your skin too much.

Do you have particularly sensitive skin? Shaving with the hairs rather than against can help (i.e. down your legs rather than up). This technique also reduces the risk of getting those dreaded little red shaving bumps.

Laser hair removal is another more permanent solution.

3. You aren't moisturizing (or you aren't doing it right).

You should be moisturizing every day.Yup, every day. I know, that sounds time-consuming and annoying. But it works. In about a week or two (depending on how good your moisturizer is) you will have soft, glowy skin. Pretty much as simple as that. And when you're older, you will thank yourself, because moisturized skin doesn't wrinkle as easily as dried-out skin.

If you stick to these very simple tips, you should have perfect, beach-ready skin in no time.
